I think the playing styles are very different. The Atlanta is basically Fritz (4 or 5 I guess) good range of playing levels and features, good tactically. The Novag is feature rich with not just a wide range of levels but the ability to connect to a PC as well. From what I remember Novags are not too good at coming up with a plan but if you give them something to bite on then look out. I think Novag's endgame is well programmed but not as knowledge-based as some e.g. Vancouver or Fidelity 2265 etc.. Does this include the Atlanta? From what I remember you're much more likely to see the Novag make a speculative middle-game sacrifice than any other dedicated machine. What time controls do you think you will be using? Novag used to be considered very strong at quickplay against humans in particular. Does this still hold true? The Diamond board may be better for this but a wooden board would be best. No dedicated unit compares to a modern PC program for strength or features of course. Please feel free to comment anyone. Good luck. Ray.
