i recently ran a test with positions from bt2630 all test were run with 128kb of ram and then 4mb then 64mb!!!! i found in some positions 128kb solved the problem faster than the 4mb !!!! thought the 64mb won out right on the tougher positions >>> my questions is how much does the amount of ram actually affect the strength of a program. is it the ram or the actual search perameters that define the strength. a point of interest is that cm6000 with 2megs almost always out performs all other programs in sovling tricky mates . there is a mate in 12 in the rebel9 database under tactics. i left rebel on for 10 min with 2 megs of ram used no solution found even at 15plys deep, but cm6000 at 8-9 plys after a margin of 30sec see the correct mate. so again is it the ram or the qaulity or design of the engine that defines the strength!!flint~!!!!!!!!!!
