To answer the last part of the question - it is definitely the quality of the engine that defines the strength of the program. The RAM affects the strength but only by +/- 100 ELO at the most. CM6000 is The King engine that is extremly strong at tactics, which is why it solved your problems so quickly. Steve Maughan
