For example the AMD XP 3000+ I have supports SSE and 3DNOW instructions and if you run a program compiled with SSE2 it will give a invalid instruction error. The opteron is a 64 bit chip as is the AMD 64 chips and these both support the SSE2 instructions. Bryan
