hi Mike now you have the best of both worlds a top notch dual Opteron PC AND the highest rated Dedicated computer ever made you have achieved legendary status in the hobby of all things "computer chess" >I'm asking all the current and past owners of the Tasc R30, please self >identify yourself with the all the details of your ownership. > >Which Model? R40 V2.5 SB30 and SB20 R30 V2.2 SB30(the SB20 is not compatible with the V 2.2) >When was it acquired? the R30 in 2002 the R40 in 2003 >Are you the original owner? no >How often do you play it? the R30 perhaps one-two day's a month the R40..only when playing Crafty on a pocket PC :) one day a month, mainly to test that it still works >How long do you plan to keep it or how did you keep it? until death us do part :) >Do you have a favorite game played against it or played by the Tasc R30? the R40'S brilliant win against your Crafty right out of the opening >Please add any other comments that you feel are important or might be of >interest to the rest of us. the construction of the Tasc units are the pinnacle of perfection the wood used is similar to the wood seen in the inside of a Mercedes Benz the first dedicated computer to be honored with De Konings King program the piece recognition is a pure joy i particularly love the display which shows a nice diagram of the board my one and only gripe..can only save the current game in memory the R40 had cooling vents in the back of the unit which is one of the only ways to insure it is a R40 see here: http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/cpaa2@sbcglobal.net/detail?.dir=3353&.dnm=4e5c.jpg&.src=ph some Tasc units do not have authentic version 2.2 or 2.5 Eproms in them. they have copied Eproms in them because owners wanted to upgrade to a 2.5 and Tasc was out of business so copies were made and then inserted into the computer likewise some people had and interest in the 2.2 eprom if they already had a 2.5 your Tasc is a 100% authentic factory installed version 2.5 i know this for a fact certain some people dont care about this but i consider a Tasc with a copied eprom as uncollectable as far as legal, well the company is out of business so i cant give an opinion but it does seem unethical >Thus far , I have played 3 games against it with the tc of 1 sec per move and >pondering on and I'm 0 and 3. But you can rest assured, I will post my first >win --- but it might take about 30+ games ;>). > >Ps > >Steve , yu my word the Tasc R30 will be spared the dual Opteron until it loses >to me :>). fair enough i still cant believe you drove in the middle of a snow storm to get it that shows true dedication i hope you enjoy it and NEVER sell it congratulations!! Best Regards Steve
