What do we have, 5-6 computertournament a year. Do you think the creativity of
bookauthors get empty by this? Myself I even think this is a very interesting
part of chess (to find new ideas in the opening).
Or is it the basement tournaments that are your consern? The programs should be
flexible enough so a user that like to run such tournament can create his own
book, adjust the varation of bookuse. Enable/disable tablebase lookup etc.

Whats up in Chess960 version 2, not allowed to use open files?

From what you say I understand that tablebase are not allowed, this is good I
think.

For creativity in the opening, take my switch to 1.e4 c5. This is a hole new
game for me and I have to use all my creativity to play it. Of course someone
would go home and cram the opening, but this is their choice so I guess thats
what they like to do.
