I finally read my manual for the Polgar module, and see that it has a calculation that arrives at the ELO rating of the human player. The manual states "your Mephisto has the official formula from FIDE stored in its memory". This is based on using one of the level features of the Polgar where you specify the ELO that you want the computer to play at. Has anybody ever tried this to determine how accurate the calculation really is? Of course this assumes that the ELO rating of the computer level you choose is also accurate, and I suspect that rating is a bit high for the actual level of play. I have never played any club or tournament games, so have no basis to estimate my ELO. I would guess that it is somewhere between 1000 and 2000. :-) I was curious if this Polgar calculation was even close (within a couple hundred rating points) of actual. I have the 10MHz version of the Polgar, if it makes any difference. Curious yellow regards, Dick Schneiders
