Clive,

Thanks for your comparisons - they do help a lot. I, too, would have preferred
that the Polgar would allow for more time controls while using the ELO
calculation. 40/2hr is normally longer than I want to invest into playing a
game against a computer, and 30 minutes a side, while workable, is sometimes too
short. I have been playing the Polgar set to 1400 and 30 minutes, and I have
won 3 out of 4 games. The other one I screwed up a king and rook ending, as my
time was running out, and lost on time.

Does the Mephisto Risc have any additional time controls, while using the ELO
calculation?

I am the other way around, as to my relative play against humans and computers,
but I have not played often against good human players. Probably Mike's
explanation about being intimadated by a human across the board, is partly the
reason. I should go to the local club and let the 8 or 9 year olds beat up on
me for awhile. At least none of them should be 300 pounds! :-)
