I think there probably have been games where the entire game never left a theoretically drawn state as would be defined by a 32 man tablebase, if one existed. Knowing how to consistently play a perfect game, and by chance actually playing a perfect game on occaision, are two different things. So just because no one knows how to do it consistently doesn't mean they haven't done it. Of course no-one knows for sure, but I would bet even the following game is "perfect", in the sense that neither side ever has a forced win: 1.Na3 Na6 2.Nb1 Nb8 3.Na3 Na6 4.Nb1 Nb8 5.Na3 draw -Robin
