Chessbase /Fritz people are generally very secretive about differences between engines. Some of the engine authors (shredder/junior/tiger) are willing to provide more details in some cases. If you have Fritz, and log on to playchess.com, it will usually tell you at somepoint there is an "update". Unfortuntately they do not tell you if is an engine update /GUI update/security update etc. They do not suggest if all users hould install or just a select few. The user is essentially left in the dark whether or not he should install the update or not. I prefer to let other users install the update and then see what they say. I know that does not answer you question, but I'm not sure if anybody has an answer. Good Luck! Michael
