I'm not sure how close to the Polgar it really is. The hardware is 65C02 with 5 MHz and 48k ROM, 8k RAM. Opening book consists of 3000 variations. The only difference here is apperently the 64k vs 48k large ROM of the (standard) Polgar, so one could suspect that its program is larger - and a little bit stroger as the SSDF list suggests (places 40 and 44, 30 ELO): http://www.schachcomputer.info/html/body_ssdf.html What is strange however, is the opposite difference in the tactics test: http://www.schachcomputer.at/bt2450-Dateien/sheet002.htm The Academy gets an ELO of 1897 and the (standard) Polgar 1846. However it's not clear how reliable those old results are. Maybe someone with a little bit spare time should check 'em... ;) Btw, I don't have the Polgar module but a spare Academy in good shape. Anyone trade? :) Ed Schroeder Regards, Martin
