I never met the man but have read his unique little book 'Chess for Tigers' which offers a fascinating insight into his chess philosophy. Such was the style and quality of the book that I certainly felt I knew Mr Webb in some remote way. I would thoroughly recommend 'Chess for Tigers' to any player wishing to improve their game. It is one of those books which has been written with great energy, passion, and above all humour. It manages to cover a lot of ground in only 120 pages and gives a great insight into the practical side of chess. I don't agree with everything in the book but the fact that it gets you thinking raises it above much of the dross that passes as chess literature. I certainly enjoyed it immensely and have found myself rereading parts of it many times over the years.
