I have decided to get a DGT board so i can automatically save my games against my dad when we go out and on the town and play some chess ( http://www.talkchess.com/forums/1/message.html?417647 ). Now, does anyone here know of any chess software that is compatible with DGT (for database purposes, timekeeping and automatic saving of games) that runs on a PDA? I have my eyes on the "Palm IIIc" as the battery lifetime is 14 days per charge and is quite inexpensive, it runs PALM OS 3.5, but from the looks of it, it does not have a USB connection and i am not sure it could power the DGT board for long, any input on this device and the purpose for which i am going to use it, would be appreciated. Also if you know of a PDA that would be ideal (lowest price is prefereble as i would only be using it to power the DGT board and register the moves played) in combination with the DGT board and chess software (i am not up to date with the software part, or the PDA's for that matter), i would appreciate your input. For some strange reason the makers of the DGT boards have opted for the unit to only store 500 moves in it's internal memory, which should roughly equate to 10 games, as the lifetime of this feature will not last beyond 2.500.000 moves (according to their own statement) well, why they didn't build in a floppy drive where the games would automatically be saved in .pgn format, is beyond me, but this means that for saving games away from your PC is quite a hassle.
