Usually I see this sort of activity with a newbie to eBay that isn't too certain how things work, or isn't totally comfortable with placing a bid very much over what the current bid is. However, this "bidder" has several hundred feedback, so they certainly know the game. Also, in looking at the other items he has bid on, I see nary a single one related to chess.
