Hi Steve, another interesting post. :D On March 25, 2005 at 13:42:21, Steve B wrote: >>Better for iousa would have been if he had chosen 1190 (ie) since then the >>history would look like that (provided kq had chosen the same steps as above): > >better i think is if the lead bidder didnt bid and leave such a large max bid >it simply dosent pay to do that(IMO) In general I agree. It however depends on your estimated value (and your true max bid). If it's still a way to go, well... Increasing your max bid three or four times (in case you want it whatever the price is, for instance) could keep bargain hunters away at an early stage of the process and keep the total price low. >if the lead couldnt be at the computer at the time of the auctions close( and >therefore thats why he bid in this manner)he could have placed his max bid using >bidding software Which isn't allowed -- officially -- I think.... ;) >there could be one other reason the lead bid this way > >he might have wanted to put other collectors on notice that he is very >interested in the computer and those freindly with him would probably have >stayed away then Yes, that's possible. >i know i would probably not bid against the lead(i know him quite well) but then >again,if the computer were rare enough(which this one is certainly not),i would >probably outbid my own mother >:)) Interesting. :D So one has to be careful and not post one's own general bidding stretegy on this board, huh? :p >Ruthless Regards >Steve Askant Regards, Martin
