yes, you need a complete install of the cygwin enviroment, included a lot of
cygwin*.dll stuff. You should run this, without any problem, beside the
bloodshed.net stuff.

If fruit support the automake enviroment i recommend that you're install the
packages automake und  autoconf too and do the steps "configure and make"
without your GUI on the console. May configure --help gives you some options
that could be usefull for you.
