I thought whole life AMD is better than Pentium family but gradually I have stopped think in that way. If we compare both processors we should also compare their price and results reached by programs which we prefere to use. Difference in speed between two programs can be really big. According to results reached by diffrent programs I have to tell you story about comparing results in perft test. In initial position my program on PIV in perft test reach depth 6 after 21.267 seconds and Atak engine on the same machine is 30% slower but on Athlon 1700+ my program is 30% slower than Atak so whole difference is 60%. It simply means all depends on kind of program we want to use. I agree that a large majority of programs are faster on Athlon but reason of this fact is in my opinion not directly in kind of architecture those processors. Who know maybe if programmer write on his own machine his program is optimized on this machine but perhaps it isn't rule.
