'Automatic' seemed a >plausible mode, since my R30 found the mate also 'automatically'. :) Well, as a general rule I would say: For shorter mates (up to about #10) _always_ try ´Normal´-mode first! Only if you see that it would really take too much time in this ´brute force´ mode (or if you have a much deeper mate problem), then I would use the ´Automatic´ (or even better the ´AutoTurbo´) mode - but in this case it´s very important to know at least the mate depth and set this value correctly (in ´SearchDepth´), otherwise you could get _any_ possible higher mate instead of the shortest one (and of course it could also take some time). >P.S. I'm using the Shredder(ChessBase) via the UCI-interface. Ok, of course ChestUCI is working in this GUI (don´t forget to open the extra ´Engine output window´ to see all infos from ChestUCI!), but Arena-GUI or ShredderClassic-GUI are really _much_ better for ChestUCI - so if you have one of them, you should give it a try ...
