Subject: RAM quality for computer chess

I'm getting a new computer soon (Athlon64) and I'm trying to figure out what
kind of RAM to get with it. Most RAM specifies latency like 4-2-2, what do
these numbers mean? Also, what else should I consider when purchasing RAM?
I've read articles advising to get high quality RAM, like Crucial or Kingstin,
but does this really matter or is it just people justifying the price they paid?
I'm wondering if the people here have ever had a problem that turned out to be
flakey RAM. I've seen some pretty low price RAM, and I'd love to load the
system up with it if it won't make my program slow or flakey.

Also, I've read that the Athlon64 connects right to the memory (no northbridge
or whatever), so the motherboard is mostly irrelevant, right?

Thanks,
Dan Pineo
