My recent eBay CC1 arrived today, and it is in wonderful condition. The box and styrofoam packaging are nearly mint, and the CC1 looks like it has hardly been played. Of course, as per the auction, the pieces are missing. However, there is the original manual and the returned registration card with the acknowledgement from Fidelity with their date stamp on it. The registration card has, in the date of sale, a question mark and Dec. 1977 and the word "gift" written in. This must have been a Christmas gift for somebody. December of 1977 seems a bit late for buying a CC1, as the CC3's had been out for several months. I am curious about the upgrade information at the bottom of the last page of the manual. First I am amused at the way Fidelity skirts around the reason for the quick upgrade. They say, if you have mastered the CC1 and are winning all of the time, you might want to buy the upgrade. However, the primary reason for the upgrade and quick availability of the CC3 was the fact that the CC1 was seriously flawed, both cosmetically and functionally. What I am curious about is the date on the upgrade. Fidelity states that the upgrade will be available after 6/1/77. This means that the upgrade information in the manual was placed there *prior* to the upgrade being available. I wonder if the very first CC1 manuals had this upgrade information in the manual. If so, then that means Fidelity knew that the CC1 was flawed and still released it for production. Has anybody ever seen a CC1 manual without this upgrade information in it? Dick Schneiders
