I just ran a quick test with the following simple set of moves: e4 d5 exd5 c6 dxc6 Nf6 cxb7 e6 cxb8=N and everything worked fine. I put the above in a .pgn file, and did the usual "book create tst.pgn 60" and it didn't complain at all, and when I played through the game, the bxa8=N move was there and was played as a book move. I did the same for a non-capturing promotion as well. Make sure the "pgn input" you have is _really_ "pgn format". bxa8Q is incorrect. As is bxa8(Q). I've seen both in supposedly correct pgn...
