When a program shows a line in ply 12, the line does not have because to have 12
moves (ply), if it were single brute force if that would have 12 moves, but so
that the programs play well, usually make extensions of recaptures of pieces to
avoid the effect horizon, extensions of check, mate threat...

Programs show the extensions in the line and other no.

My program the only moment that cuts the variants is when it sees posible draw
by repetition.

Perhasps, engines do not show all the variant when the move that do comes from
the tables hash and has not been evaluated by the evaluation function. My
program not have table hash.

Some authors indicate that they can find illegal moves in his quiescent search
and for that reason they do not show them in the line.

Best wishes,
