Actually Kasparov was not aware of the general availability of the logs. If you are surprised by this, consider that I wasn't aware of them either and I'm not unusually ignorant of computer chess news. I read Hsu's book when it came out and was not in a cave for the year 2000. There are almost no links to the game/log page at all, more on the Usenet than the web. I sent Kasparov the link last week (after Part 1 of my interview was put up at ChessBase and several people sent me the link). Now he wants to analyze them to see if it can be proven that DB isn't stronger than today's programs. I'll add a bit on this to Part 2 going up in a day or two. I doubt Kasparov will apologize for this, but at the very least it should put an end to these requests for evidence. I'm mostly surprised about the movie not getting into this. As I mentioned in the Daily Dirt on this, I don't know if they just didn't know about the logs and nobody in the IBM group told them, or if they found it inconvenient for the obvious conspiracy spin of the film. Rather embarrassing for all concerned, myself included. http://www.chessninja.com/dailydirt/archives/log_jam_deep_blue_and_kasparov.htm Saludos, Mig
