Hello Let me know if you get an answer. I wrote a chess program in Qbasic and it does not support the coding for winboard applications, but if pipes were still available I believe I could use them for that purpose. I searched my XT operating system and it no longer supports pipes, that is unless it is backwards compatible. Bill
