As powerful as DB was - it may not be as strong as Deep Shredder running on a
Quad Opteron.  In fact, I would bet on DS to win the match against Deep Blue
running on today's best available a hardware.  So that if he GK finds that out
to be true, I would not be surprised.

The difference is the programming.

Now if DB added Stephan to his programming team, it would be no contest - DB
would win.

Thanks for the follow-up.   Amazingly, many people were not aware of the
availability and simply did not ask.  I posted more than once links to the logs
here that they were available, but not suprisingly, my posts get lost in the
shuffle.  They were others posting to their availability as well.
