I recall that David Levy assisted with some of the programming and implemented an opening book that would suggest themantic moves of a particular opening even if the opponent would not always play according to book. The program also claimed various draws by displaying the section number of the corresponding FIDE Laws Of Chess Handbook. The display was a backlit piece outline LCD in the style used by some of the less expensive Excalibur handhelds of today. Not as nice as a bitmap display, but far better than no board display at all.
