FYI - the number of distinguishable moves
with complete information in a sheet:

#Rookmoves 4 straight directions
 8*7 + 8*6 + 8*5 + 8*4 + 8*3 +  8*2 +  8*1 = 8*28 = 224
 4*224 = 32*28 =>  896

#Bishopmoves 4 diagonal directions
 1*7 + 3*6 + 5*5 + 7*4 + 9*3 + 11*2 + 13*1 = 5*28 = 140
 4*140 = 20*28 =>  560

#Kingmoves 4 straight, 4 diagonal directions
 4*7*8 + 4*7*7 = 8*28 + 7*28
         15*28 =>  420

#Knightmoves 8 directions
(8-2)*(8-1) = 42 moves per direction
6*7*8 =  12*28 =>  336

I found those multiples of 4*7 rather surprising ;-)
