When the freeware stuff is actually coded in many cases by professional programmers, in many cases with advanced degree's, and in some cases with decades of chess programming experience, including experience writing World Championship programs (in the case of Dr. Hyatt), I believe new commercial chess programs may be expected to be seen as "poor cousins". In due time, with added work, the new(er) commercial programs should increase both in strength and in features, with fewer bugs. But let's keep in mind the man-CENTURIES of labor which have gone into some of the more famous commercial programs, to achieve their level of strength and sophistication. I agree with you, it's unfortunate that some features on some programs don't work as advertised, or as we wish that they would. Before labeling Ktulu's author as "precociously greedy", however, it seems only fair to reference your reasons for that pronouncement. Dave
