Hi Jeremiah, Yes I understand that but I am trying to minimize a concern of mine when looking at egtb's here. ie first line says "ce 0; pv Ka7;" is this a draw or is it a mate. Bob has mentioned that there are some cases where if there is only one move to make then you can have a ce 0. The next epd string there is "ce 1; pv;" I am not quite sure I understand the ce 1 and am a bit confused with the lack of a pv. Regarding the third line I assume that "-32767; pv;" means either the current board with no move is mate?? or there is only one final moce to mate but if so then why is pv blank? The reason I need to have a firm understanding of this is I am trying to get the "complete" solution set for the krk egtb but I must have output in epd format and that it includes the ce for mates and only ce 0 when it is a draw. Thanks for the thoughts, Les
