Actually, it would be possible for one instance of the engine with both protocols (so, what I said above is wrong). A WB GUI would set up the position (perhaps including a move list in force mode after giving a level command) and just send go and repeat go after each move (easy mode must be on). It would work well with many engines. Engines that use unsymmetrical eval would have some problems. It would only start one engine. I have no idea, whether this is already implemented in some GUIs. With the UCI protocol it would work in a similar manner. As I said, I am glad that you like that feature in Yace. I like to use the console mode. But I am realistic, this is not for many users. It is nice, to see, that I am not the only one, that uses such old fashioned means. Dieter
