Just my guesses. 1. Tablebases are playing out mates in 30/longer when older programs would resign. Sometimes this is done in only a few seconds. 2. Also the tablebases may play out correctly to a 50 move draw when they may have lost earlier in the past. 3. People are turning the resign early/late option off to let the game take it's true course. Maybe only an in depth study of the databases would tell the truth.
