You don't have to know people to get a sense of what they are. We have news,
films, film clips, books , newpaper articles, history channel and of course the
CCC forum. Should I send you a picture of my chess books, I have over 300 and
I have every one. If you have read anything about Botvinnik and Euwe you would
know they were master politicians - Botvinnik was openly Jewish in a country
where being Jewish at the time was not consider to be good for your career and
he was one the few Jews that was ever admitted to the Communist party in
Russian. Trust me, A Jewish person had to have great political skills to get
invited to join the USSR Communist Party.

Max Euwe was President of FIDE for 8 years and during that time he travelled to
over 100 countries. That sounds like a politician of master skill to me.

My comments about Euwe and Botvinnik were not sarcastic or negative at all. I
was trying to be complimentary.

With respect to Kasparov, I like him as a person and at one time in my life we
stood within 3 feet of each other. I have seen him talk in person and he can be
charismatic when things are going well. I gave seen video of him when things do
not go well, and he is not very charismatic then and I would say he is lacking
to the skills necessary to be a top flight politician. There is nothing wrong
that -- most people do have not the skills either. But as far Chess players go
-- from what I have read, I think Euwe and Botvinnik had the top political
skills of the professional chess players.

Best,

Michael
