I did not want to comment on the UCI protocol vs. for example the XBoard protocol in my post (and I think I didn't). I just wanted to refer to exactly one point inside the UCI protocol - the way scores are handled. This is more general than the "ce" and at least in parts more general than your suggested new upcode. In this context, I cannot understand your answer. Regards, Dieter Probably with destroyed line wrappings from the UCI protocol - as I mentioned, a score could have both, an upper bound and a lower bound. in k-best mode always send all k variants in k strings together. * score * cp <x> the score from the engine's point of view in centipawns. * mate <y> mate in y moves, not plies. If the engine is getting mated use negative values for y. * lowerbound the score is just a lower bound. * upperbound the score is just an upper bound.
