Symbolic's xboard interface uses the PV for pondering; if it's not available
then it does a quick search to come up with a ponder move.  It attempts to do
this all on the opponent's clock.

I believe that the current xboard specification says that the interface will
issue a "computer" command if its ICS code recognizes a computer opponent.
