The King (CM9_R1 personality) doesn't report a mate from the initial position in any reasonable amount of time, but I was able to eliminate many potential lines, and came up with this, which I believe is best play: 22.e6 Bb7 23.exd7 Bxd5 24.Nc8 And now things get a bit fuzzy. Black has 24...h6, 24...Bxg2+ or 24...g5 as possibilities, but I think that 24...h6 holds off mate the longest. So after 24.Nc8, we have 24...h6 25.d8=Q+ Kh7 26.Qxd5, and now things get fuzzy again. Here's the position: [D]1rN4r/p4ppk/1p5p/3Q1P2/8/8/P1P3PP/1R3R1K b - - 0 26 After a VERY long think (almost an hour), it sees that 26...f6 will give White a mate in 12, and that there is nothing better. So, that gives us a total of 17 moves. Can somebody else do better? jm
