Yes, with both Shredder 8 and Shredder 9! It happens much less frequently with Shredder 9, but it still happens. In my experience it means that mate is imminent. Shredder 9 will find the mate if you let it analyze longer, but Shredder 8 won't. Also the last half-move in a line of analysis may be nonsense in Shredder 9, while prior analysis moves may be nonsense in Shredder 8. It's OK maybe 90-95% of the time with Shredder 9, but ridiculous with Shredder 8 maybe 25-50% of the time. So Shredder 9 is a big improvement over Shredder 8 in those respects, but still not perfect. I've gotten used to it, and don't consider it a serious flaw. However it would be easy to fix the latter by concatenating one more half-move when displaying analysis, and think that should probably be done. WP
