Subject: Chess Tiger 14 and Pro Deo 1.1 Betazoid T8 still in a dead heat

Author: Eelco de Groot

Two what I think were entertaining games between Chess Tiger and Betazoid in the
twelfth round, from a position in the Pirc defence.

Both Chess Tiger and Pro Deo Betazoid win a game.

That gives the following standings after twelve rounds:

Chess Tiger 14.0 - Pro Deo 1.1 Betazoid T8 12½ - 11½

Interesting was Chess Tiger's opening with Black in game two. After the last
moves from the Jeroen Noomen's pgn-file, 6. O-O Bg4, are played out, the
programs have to think on their own.

 7.. h2-h3 Bg4-c8 !?

the first thing Tiger does after provoking the pawnmove h3 is withdrawing the
Bishop again all the way to c8!

This is very modern! Bg4 is not without purpose, because h2-h3 makes the king
position theoretically a bit weaker. Pro Deo Betazoid however playing Black in
the first game prefers to take the Knight on f3.
