At the 2002 WMCCC speed chess tournament, I had an odd problem.
I was running NoonianChess inside the Arena interface. During the first
few matches, it worked fine until it left the opening book. As soon as it
left the book, the time on the interface would drop from 7 minutes to zero
minutes. NoonianChess took no time to play each opening move but Arena would
immediately lose all time as soon as NoonianChess left the book.

I had it programed to do a 3 ply search then make move when there is zero
time left. Needless to say it dropped pieces easily against Shredder, Diep
and the other opponents where the problem had occured.

Between each round I brought down the program and Arena and restarted
and no change. Finally, before the last round I rebooted the laptop,
reinstalled NoonianChess in Arena as a completely new version. This worked.
I must have installed it improperly after an improvement I made the night
   before.

The last round was against Junior. So, I expected to lose. But, NoonianChess
performed well against Junior and had a nice plus score in the middlegame
for several moves. The material was even but it had a nice positional
advantage. To my amazement Junior sac'd a rook for an attack on the king
and forced a draw via three fold repetition of position.

So, all but the last match had the problem and it was quite perplexing
as to why the problem existed. Some of the comments from a few of the other
competitors were a bit much to ingest but a draw with Junior made it
    worth the effort.
