Hi Jordan, i'm not real familiar with the free chess programs but if you have never run a chess program before and what to learn the game perhaps chessmaster might be a good program to start with. There are many of course but chessmaster is not expensive and very user friendly. But of course there is Shredder, in my opinion the strongest chess program in the world, perhaps to strong if your just learning the game and even if your not new to the game____like most of us ___:) Chessmaster has many different personalities that are designed for class players of all strengths. Fritz and Shredder do also but the chess engine still may be a little strong if your just starting out. earl
