Well, not quite, but I did express some need for urgency to the seller.  I
stopped short of asking her to insure it for $500 or so, as that might have been
a bit strange on an item that only cost $14.95.  It seemed a bit silly to even
insure it at all, but the seller insisted.

Yes, you are probably correct, but assigning random numbers for serial numbers
seems a bit short-sighted for a company dealing in high-tech electronics.  The
CC1's, no doubt, had a very short production run so the actual dates of
individual machines is not really that significant.  Although I was hoping that
my latest CC1 would turn out to be a very early example.
