 CM has been -AFAIK- the first chess program giving the possibility of creating
personalities, so establishing a tradition of which people is aware. I think CM
3000 was the first version to do that, about fifteen years ago.

 I think CM has a set of adjustable parameters a bit more extensive than the
opposition. Moreover there is a significant feature in CM: it allows you to save
your creation with a name, which intensifies the feeling that has a "personal"
existence.
