I would venture to guess that these would be the major factors in not upgrading
to one of those new fangled php boards:

1. Bandwidth. They use MUCH more.
2. Cost. This includes managing the new software
3. Registration. Re-registering all the users here would take _forever_
4. Implementing the diagrams ability would be tasking.

I do agree however that it might be easier to track messages with the new board.
