The reason is that Fritz 8.0.0.26 was sold by Chessbase in a different (later)
Fritz 8 product. It's been confused by the version number being almost the same.
Versions 8.0.0.1 upwards can be upgraded to 8.0.0.23. The version 8.0.0.26 has
to be bought, and as far as I know there are no upgrades for it.
