Maybe the response of a person who is pissed ?

Frankly , that is a commercial world - not an amateur's world ... and with Frank
already bitten once , may want to cool things down by removing sales until
doubts are cleared : unfortunate , but understandable from a commercial
viewpoint.

From a programmer's viewpoint , if some idiot tommorrow comes out with similar
accusation against one of my programs , I would respond more harshly.
When you are investing your freetime into a hobby , I wont like some arbitrary
guy coming and telling me what/how I should and should not be doing.
Attempts at character assination is not nice - especially in this world of
computer chess where community is more ready to believe a clone accusation than
to support the author.
Which would be one of the main reasons why I support the author even if I
personally dont know him - nothing in fruit or crafty or gnuchess or xyz was not
already known anyway : and code copiers will die down soon enough while the
really interested will continue.
This does not mean I support cloning - but please go beyond the literal meaning
of the statement to what I actually mean , too late here to rephrase it.

This is one of the prime reasons why I dont want to write a open source chess
engine (I support open source devel in all other fields) or release binaries of
my engine.
Life is already full of problems without having to respond to things like this
which will only increase blood pressure :)
