The newer one is clearly better simply because the clock speed is higher. Interestingly enough (and this was a disappointment to me) the two generations of chips are pretty equal clock for clock. That means if you want the fastest possible you should get the 2.13ghz Dothan chip, but if you're going for a slower speed (1.7/1.8) then the Banias chip (if still available) will give you equivalent performance for less money.
