Subject: Movei 309 Beta -- First Test Results

Author: John Merlino

Movei 309 played very well against the default Chessmaster 9000 personality in
my first test. The test was a 20-game G/10 match, played on an AMD 2500 with
pondering ON for both engines.

After the first six games, the score was tied at +1 =4 -1. But then The King won
three consecutive games and never relinquished the lead.

Movei tried valiantly to come back, and after 16 games the score was +5 =7 -4
for The King. But Chessmaster won all of the last four games, to finish with a
score of 12.5 to 7.5.

First impressions are that Movei is pretty liberal with its use of the clock,
particularly when compared to The King's very conservative use. Typically, by
move 40, The King would have at least 6 minutes remaining and Movei would have
somewhere between 3 and 4 minutes left.

My next test will be a 20-game G/60 match on an AMD 2500 with pondering OFF.

Games for this match will follow.... If anybody spots any great test moves (by
either engine), it would be greatly appreciated if they were posted.
