The Shredder book is for Shredder and made for it's style, while the Fritz book is suited for Fritz! I've seem other having similar problems like you describe, but Shredder 9 CB doesn't seem to have a "general problem". It works fine on both the comps I've installed it on, and doesn't lose a lot.
