I do not see it that way. I do not see a reason to prefer programmers that never gave you something and not a programmer who stopped to give you something. Tou can decide not to buy shredder but for the same reason you can also not buy Fritz and Junior. I expect rational customers not to consider the past in their decisions. If they buy Fritz because Fritz give them something and Shredder give the same thing then I see no reason to prefer Fritz and not Shredder. > >Stefan even took the UCI version of Shredder out of the Chessbase offering, and >the only logical reason is to _make more money_. Junior and Fritz did not have a UCI version in the first place and the only reason is to make more money. If you want the UCI version, >you have to buy it from _him_. Yes and I think that it is better to buy it from him and not to buy from chessbase because the uci version can run under the chessbase interface. The only advantage that the chessbase version has is that you get with it a serial number that can be used in playchess. If you do not like to use the shredder interface then I think that Shredder with an external book is good enough to buy it. Shredder7.04 with an external book won the premier division of Leo and I expect Shredder9 to do the same. Shredder9 can probably be at least in the same level of Fritz with an external book and I see no reason to prefer Fritz. Uri
