You may not know this but you could possibly be using Shredder 9's own GUI
available from www.shedderchess.com - This has a UCI engine that can be used in
a Fritz GUI.  It sounds as if you're using the Chessbase version of Shredder 9.
I personally prefer Shredder's own GUI.

This sounds like a GUI problem - maybe someone else can help you with this one.
