His position (the one in the initial post of this thread) is a theoretical draw, as are the vast majority of the possible KNNK positions. As a matter of fact, there is no forced mate with KNNK that is longer than ONE PLY. So if the side with the bare King loses, it was REALLY a blunder. But, yes, the Novag is wrong in this case. It is making an assumption based solely on the material. jm
